ALFA MARKS 10TH YEAR OF SUPPORT FOR FARM SAFETY DAY™
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- 2008 marks the 10th year Alfa Insurance and the Alabama Farmer's Federation have provided financial support to the Progressive Agriculture Foundation's farm Safety Day™ program.
Like the Safety Day program, Alfa Insurance and the Alabama Farmers Federation have long been committed to making farms and rural communities safer for children.
"The Safety Day program is a natural partner for us," says Jerry A. Newby, president of Alfa Insurance and the Alabama Farmers Federation. "Just as we work to improve life on our farms and in our rural communities, so does the Progressive Agriculture Foundation. Making our children safe is a vision we all can share -- and a goal we all must strive to reach."
During 2008, nearly 380 Safety Days will be held in 35 states, six Canadian provinces, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and American Samoa, including 11 in Alabama, Alfa Insurance's home state.
"The support from long-time contributors such as Alfa Insurance is truly appreciated," says Randy J. Bernhardt, CAO and executive director of development, Progressive Agriculture Foundation. "Farm and rural children are at risk for injury every day on the farm. We are very grateful to Alfa Insurance for providing funds that helps us provide Farm Safety days so we can deliver on our mission of keeping rural children safe and health on the farm, ranch and at home."
As an outgrowth of the Alabama Farmers Federation, Alfa Insurance Companies began in 1946 to provide quality fire insurance to federation members, who were primarily farmers. Since then, Alfa has grown to offer an array of insurance coverage -- including life, property and automobile -- to its clients and has also become known for superior customer service. Alfa and its affiliates now provide insurance and other financial services to more than 1 million customers in 13 states.
Progressive Agriculture Safety Day™ is a program of the Progressive Agriculture Foundation, a 501 (c ) (3) charitable foundation. The Foundation's mission is to make farm and ranch life safer and healthier for all children through education and training.
