WETLAND RESERVE PROGRAM WORKSHOPS SCHEDULED
AUBURN, Ala. -- Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) will be hosting three workshops to inform landowners and tribes about the Wetland Reserve Program (WRP).
The workshops will be held on the following dates and locations:
Oct. 21, 6:30 p.m., at the Wiregrass Electric Cooperative in Hartford.
Oct. 30, 1 p.m., at the Alabama Fish Farming Center in Greensboro.
Nov. 6, 6 p.m., at the Alabama Farmers Federation Building in Montgomery.
WRP is a voluntary program that provides technical assistance and financial incentives to restore, protect and enhance wetlands in exchange for retiring marginal land from agriculture.
Landowners that enter WRP may be paid an easement in exchange for enrolling their land. Wetlands provide valuable habitat for waterfowl and many other wildlife species.
