CHILTON AREA PEACH MEETING SET JAN. 22
CLANTON, Ala. -- Pest management, new soil testing recommendations and updates from Alabama Farmers Federation Horticulture Director Mac Higginbotham are a few of the items on the agenda at the Chilton Area Peach Production Meeting on Thursday, Jan. 22, in Clanton. The meeting, set for Alabama Power Company's Clanton Conference Center from 5 to 8:30 p.m., will feature Dave Lockwood of the University of Tennessee on new soil-testing recommendations, Dave Black of Mississippi State on peach production budgets and Bobby Boozer, commercial horticulture coordinator with the Alabama Cooperative Extension System, on integrated pest management updates for peach insects. Other topics include testing for rot resistance fungicides and updates on the Chilton Area Value-Added Food Processing Facility Initiative by Regional Extension Agent Gary Gray, as well as an update from the Farmers Market Authority by Director Don Wambles.
