NRCS ANNOUNCES WETLANDS RESERVE WORKSHOPS
MONTGOMERY, Ala. -- The Natural Resources Conservation Service will be hosting three workshops across the state to inform landowners and tribes about the Wetlands Reserve Program (WRP), State Conservationist Dr. William Puckett has announced.
WRP is a voluntary program offering landowners the opportunity to protect, restore and enhance wetlands on their property. Landowners who enter into WRP may be paid an easement in exchange for enrolling their land. To date, more than 2 million acres have been enrolled nationally in WRP, helping the federal government exceed a 3-year goal of increasing the number and size of America's wetlands.
The workshops are free to the public, but reservations are requested for all meetings by calling the contact listed below.
