GREEN INDUSTRY TOUR SET FOR SEPT. 14-15
MONTGOMERY, Ala. -- Members and producers of the Alabama Farmers Federation's state Greenhouse, Nursery & Sod Committee and the Alabama Nursery & Landscape Association will be visiting sod farms, greenhouses, nurseries and garden centers throughout central Alabama on Sept. 14-15.
Mac Higginbotham, director of the Federation's Greenhouse, Nursery & Sod and Horticulture Divisions, says the annual two-day Green Industry Tour promises to benefit green industry operations of all kinds.
Dr. Deacue Fields, an associate professor of agricultural economics and rural society and an Extension specialist, will report on a recent economic impact survey that found 43,670 jobs in the state's green industry.
The tour, which will span five counties over the two days, will include such stops as Holladay Farms in Lowndes County, Wright's Nursery & Greenhouse in Dallas County, Petals from the Past in Chilton County and several others.
Cost of the tour is $215 for single occupancy and $170 for double occupancy, and includes lunch and dinner the first day, and breakfast, lunch and ice cream stop the second day.
