BEEF PLUS PROGRAM SCHEDULED IN CALHOUN COUNTY
JACKSONVILLE, Ala. -- A comprehensive workshop will offer Alabama beef cattle farmers tips on nutrition, health, forages and other management issues, according to the Alabama Cooperative Extension System which is sponsoring the event. Called Beef Plus, the program includes three evening sessions, each 6-9 p.m., on Oct. 27 (forage and weed management), Oct. 29 (feeding and nutrition) and Nov. 5 (herd health management) at the Calhoun County Farmers Federation auditorium in Jacksonville. A field day, featuring hands-on demonstrations such as seeder calibration, hay sampling and grazing trials, will follow on Nov. 20 at the Sand Mountain Regional Research and Extension Center in Crossville. Cost is $40 per person and $50 for two family members. Meals will be provided. Pre-registration is preferred by Thursday, Oct. 22.
