YOUNG FARMERS SEEK SILENT AUCTION ITEMS
MONTGOMERY, Ala. -- The Alabama Farmers Federation's State Young Farmers Committee has issued a call to all county Federations for items to be included in a silent auction to benefit the Alabama FFA Foundation. The auction, to be held during the Federation's 88th annual meeting Dec. 6-7 at Mobile's Arthur R. Outlaw Convention Center, is part of an ongoing commitment to the Alabama FFA Foundation. The Foundation helps fund Alabama FFA members' involvement in career development events such as public speaking, forestry, agricultural mechanics, livestock, crop production and small engine repair. Brandon Moore, director of the Federation's Young Farmers program, is hoping each county will bring a minimum of two items -- each valued at $50 or more -- for the silent auction. Among suggested items are artwork, a yearling bull or heifer, vacation get-aways, hunting or fishing expeditions, hunting or fishing gear, truck accessories (tool boxes, wenches, etc.), electronic items (iPods, digital cameras), farm toys, pedal tractors, cookware or jewelry to name but a few. Items already donated include a Kubota RTV All-Terrain Vehicle, a tailgate grill, gas fish cooker and breader and a Kubota Lowboy GL-65005 Diesel Generator. The auction will be open 1 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, and 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday. Winning bidders may pick up their items after the Monday afternoon voting delegate session. For more information, call Moore at (334) 394-3153 or email BMoore@AlfaFarmers.org.
