INVASIVE SPECIES WORKSHOP SET OCT. 7 IN WALKER COUNTY
JASPER -- A privet eradication demonstration will open an invasive species workshop Oct. 7, 8:30 a.m.-3 p.m., at Walker County Lake near Jasper. Hosted by the Walker County Soil and Water Conservation District, the workshop's speakers include: Stephen Enloe, an Extension specialist and assistant professor of agronomy and soils with Auburn University; Jim Jeter of the Alabama Forestry Commission; and Danny Cain of the Alabama Cooperative Extension System. The workshop, funded by a grant from the Alabama Invasive Plant Council, counts toward Continuing Forestry Education units (registered foresters must have 10 per year), Professional Logging Manager hours (loggers must have 6 per year) and pesticide applicator recertification points.
