McMILLAN TO BE SWORN IN AS AG COMMISSIONER MONDAY

MONTGOMERY, Ala. -- John McMillan, the newly elected commissioner of the Alabama Department of Agriculture & Industries, will be sworn in at Alabama's Inauguration Day ceremony on Monday, Jan. 17.Before taking his oath of office, McMillan will drive a tractor in the inaugural parade accompanied by 100 Future Farmers of America (FFA) from throughout Alabama. It is one of several events in McMillan's schedule of inauguration day events released today. "To be a part of a great team of leaders including our constitutional officers and legislative leaders is both an honor and challenge," McMillan said. "We have much work ahead of us in these times of limited resources and economic distress that affect so many Alabama families." McMillan's wife, Kathryn, will join him for all inaugural activities. His oath party will include his son William McMillan of Montgomery, his son Murphy McMillan of Birmingham, who will administer the oath of office, his daughter-in-law Beth and his two grandchildren children El and John. The schedule of events begins at 7:30 a.m. with a prayer breakfast at First Baptist Church of Montgomery, parade at 9:45, oath at noon, a reception at the Alabama Cattlemen's Association at 3 p.m., and inaugural ball at 7 p.m. at the Renaissance Hotel.
