McCOOL ELECTED SECRETARY OF HISTORICAL COMMISSION
The Alabama Historical Commission elected Diane McCool of Gordo secretary of the organization during its December meeting. McCool began her duties as secretary in February. The secretary certifies the minutes of each commission meeting.
McCool and her husband, Harold, raise poultry and beef cattle and has been active in many farm organizations. In 1999, she served as chairman of the Alabama Farmers Federation State Women's Committee. She is currently the chair of the Pickens County Farmers Federation Women's Committee and co-chair of the Pickens County Farm-City Committee. A 1967 graduate of the University of Alabama, Mrs. McCool is her family's unofficial historian and loves anything about the past.
"It distresses me greatly to see buildings torn down," she said.
Governor Bob Riley appointed McCool to the Alabama Historical Commission in January 2009.
