In an effort to share her appreciation for all things autumnal and encourage readers to reflect on the importance of family, "BEEF Daily" Editor Amanda Radke hosted a "Fall Memories" online photography contest. Though more than 50 entries were submitted from across the country, voters named Alabama's own Cheryl Lassiter one of two champion photographers for her entry, "Dixie and Mater." Lassiter is chairman of the Choctaw County Farmers Federation Women's Leadership Committee. In addition to national recognition, Lassiter won a copy of Radke's new children's book, Levi's Lost Calf. "Creating memories with your family is what fall is all about," wrote Radke. "That means county and state fairs, livestock shows, canning vegetables from the garden, harvesting the corn and beans and rounding up the herd for weaning. We are celebrating the joys of fall with photographs." Jenn Zeller of South Dakota was also honored as a champion photographer and will receive a copy of Radke's book as well. A division of "BEEF Magazine", a national cattle publication, "BEEF Daily" covers production, animal health, nutrition, finance and marketing issues in an electronic newsletter format.
