RUTLEDGE NAMED EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT AND GENERAL MANAGER FOR ALFA INSURANCE®
MONTGOMERY, Ala., Jan. 4 -- AlfaTM President and CEO Jerry Newby has named Steve Rutledge executive vice president and general manager for the Alfa Insurance companies effective Feb. 1.

Rutledge, who has led Alfa's business development team since March 2010 and marketing efforts since September 2011, will now oversee all phases of the insurance company. Rutledge will report directly to Newby.
"Steve is a proven leader with experience in investments, finance, product development, risk management, customer service and marketing," Newby said. "As executive vice president of business development and marketing, Steve has led efforts to make Alfa more competitive while providing enhanced service to policyholders. By placing Alfa's operations, marketing and business development functions under a single executive vice president, we will improve communication among divisions and ensure all Alfa employees share the same mission, goals and vision for the future."
Under Rutledge's leadership, Alfa has expanded the functionality of its call center and website, developed new discounts and introduced an improved pricing system for auto insurance customers. Rutledge's team also has embraced technology that is helping Alfa better manage risk while continuing to provide exceptional customer service.
Rutledge said he is honored to serve Alfa and its policyholders in this expanded role, and he is excited about the opportunity to grow the company's business.

Rutledge began his career with Alfa in 1984 as a securities analyst in the Investments Department. He later served as Alfa's chief financial officer and senior vice president of investments before being named executive vice president. He holds a bachelor's degree in accounting from Auburn University and is a CPA. Steve and his wife, Amy, have three children: Frances, 21; Vinson, 20; and Bennett, 14.

There are nearly 400 Alfa service centers with more than 2,500 people dedicated to serving customer needs.
