IMMIGRATION LAW IMPACT SURVEY ONLINE NOW

MONTGOMERY, Ala. -- In an effort to gauge current and potential labor shortages resulting from enactment of the state’s immigration law, the Alabama Agribusiness Council (AAC) is asking farmers, producers and agribusinesses to complete a Web-based survey by Feb. 13.

According to AAC officials, survey participation is critical to providing a clear assessment of the impact the new law could have on Alabama’s agricultural industry.

“I want to encourage every farmer and agribusiness in Alabama to participate in the survey,” said Alabama Department of Agriculture and Industries Commissioner John McMillan. “As we look for ways to address labor shortages and other issues that have arisen after passage of this new law, it is essential to have actual numbers to create solutions.”

Survey results also will help AAC officials determine where to best allocate resources, McMillan said.

To access the survey, visit: http://survey.constantcontact.com/survey/a07e5j589g6gxukx9k8/start. To request a paper copy of the survey, contact AAC Executive Director Leigha Cauthen, lcauthen@alagribusiness.org or (334) 834-4006.
