FOCUS GROUP PARTICIPANTS NEEDED FOR RURAL ACCESS STUDY
Officials with Connecting Alabama and the InnovateALABAMA State Broadband Plan are seeking additional focus group participants for a study used to improve Alabama's rural connectivity concerns. Focus groups will meet in Cullman July 19; Tuscaloosa July 20; Mobile July 23; and Auburn July 24.
The InnovateALABAMA State Broadband Plan addresses broadband related issues relevant to important industry sectors, as well as the people they employ, the schools their children attend, and the variety of entertainment and recreational opportunities they seek. InnovateALABAMA State Broadband Plan will exist in concert with other important planning initiatives underway across the state; all seeking to maximize the opportunities, security and well-being of Alabama citizens.
Regional Broadband Investment Plans are already in place and act as a starting point for the issues to look at addressing from a statewide perspective. Utilizing the information already collected, a series of propositions will be discussed at each Focus Group, in order to determine statewide needs and brainstorm ways to meet those needs. Propositions will focus on rural access, adoption guidelines, key application areas (agriculture, small businesses, education, public safety, etc) and state policies.
Focus group participants are also asked to determine the leading action state officials should take to help advance access, adoption and the application of broadband technologies across Alabama.
Times for the focus group meetings are listed below:
-
Cullman: 2-4 p.m. at the Cullman Area Chamber of Commerce
-
Tuscaloosa: 10 a.m.-12 p.m. at the Alabama Institute for Manufacturing Excellence
-
Mobile: 1-3 p.m. at the South Alabama Regional Planning Commission
-
Auburn: 1-3 p.m. at the Auburn University Hotel and Conference Center
