“Alabama farms are often overlooked in terms of economic development, but agriculture and forestry are truly the economic engines running much of our state,” Parnell said. “We appreciate Gov. Bentley and Secretary Canfield for highlighting the importance of our farms as they continue working to grow Alabama’s economy and create jobs.”
Agriculture and forestry contribute $70.4 billion annually to Alabama’s economy and employ more than 580,000 people, according to a recent study from Auburn University.
The campaign is designed to enhance the state’s image for job recruitment and includes a new website, MadeInAlabama.com. Along with agriculture, the website touts Alabama as home to innovations in the automobile industry, bioscience and aerospace.
