NEW NASS STATE STATISTICIAN VISITS FEDERATION HEADQUARTERS
MONTGOMERY, Ala., May 22, 2013 — USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS) Southern Regional Field Office recently named Cynthia Price as the new state statistician for Alabama. Price, who officially begins July 28, replaces Bill Weaver, who accepted a position in NASS’ International Programs Office in Washington, D.C.

As state statistician, Price will be responsible for filling the statistical needs of Alabama agriculture by maintaining relationships with producers, farm organizations and the State Department of Agriculture. She will also arrange for specialized statistical work.
“I am so pleased to have been selected to serve agriculture in Alabama,” said Price. “I can’t wait to hit the ground running and look forward to renewing my professional friendships and making many more.”
Price has worked with NASS for 28 years and begun her career in the Alabama Field Office. Most recently, she worked in the Statistics Division of the agency’s Washington headquarters.
A native of Hartford in Geneva County, Price received a bachelor’s degree in general studies from Auburn University at Montgomery in 1992.
