ALABAMA FARMERS COULD RECEIVE SAME-DAY EBT LICENSES
Farmers who utilize farmers markets to sell their products and have not yet committed to accept SNAP EBT, debit and credit cards have three opportunities to become licensed.
Thanks to a special program through the Alabama Farmers Market Authority (FMA), farmers can earn their Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) license May 29, June 5 or June 6 instead of the typical 45-day process. Representatives from USDA’s Food and Nutrition Service will be on-hand to sign farmers up, and the Alabama Department of Human Resources’ SNAP Division will provide each farmer with the necessary wireless device.
To expedite the process, farmers are asked to fill out the FNS-252 form and bring an original photo ID and Social Security card to one of the three meetings below:
