"Copper and metal theft crimes are increasing, especially in our rural communities,” said Alfa Insurance President Jimmy Parnell. “These criminals take more than just wire and metal; they steal a farmer’s sense of security. Farmers depend on their equipment and buildings for their livelihoods, and damages caused by thieves can be very costly to repair.”
In recent years, dozens of farmers and other rural residents have reported damage to poultry houses, farm irrigation systems and other property related to copper theft. Private citizens with information related to the theft of copper are encouraged to contact local law enforcement officials or the statewide Agriculture and Rural Crimes Unit at 855-75-CRIME.
Alfa Insurance is the leading insurer of farms in the state. Alfa and its affiliates provide insurance and other financial services to more than 1 million customers in 11 states.
