BUSINESS WORKSHOPS SCHEDULED FOR MULTI-GENERATIONAL FARM FARMILIES
The Alabama Cooperative Extension System will host farm succession seminars in February to help farm families ensure their operations are successfully passed from one generation to the next.
Workshops will be held:
• Thursday, Feb. 6, at the Wiregrass Research and Extension Center in Headland
• Monday, Feb. 17, at the Tennessee Valley Research and Extension Center in Belle Mina
• Thursday, Feb. 27, at the Sand Mountain Research and Extension Center in Crossville.
The seminars begin at 5:15 p.m., with registration and dinner. Attendees will learn to assess the possibility of two-generation farming and develop human relationship and communication skills. Families will receive advice on transferring ownership and management responsibilities as well as dividing business income.
The training will also identify essential factors in selecting and developing a business arrangement to serve both generations.
Speakers include Dr. Paul Brown, Alabama Extension associate director; Dr. Francesca Adler-Baeder, Alabama Extension specialist and Auburn University professor; and Dr. Robert Tufts, an attorney, Alabama Extension specialist and Auburn professor.
