MONTGOMERY, Ala. — Gov. Robert Bentley will join more than 1,300 farmers from across the state for the Alabama Farmers Federation’s 92nd annual meeting in Montgomery, Dec. 5-6 at the Montgomery Convention Center.

The convention begins Thursday at 1 p.m. with registration. Election of Federation leaders, entertainment, a silent auction, exhibits and policy discussions fill the two-day meeting.

Thursday afternoon’s business session features the organization’s annual report and presentation of the Service to Agriculture Award. That night, members can attend the Roots & Boots Show featuring country music superstars Aaron Tippin, Joe Diffie and Sammy Kershaw.

Bentley will address members of the state’s largest farm organization at the Friday morning general session, which also features presentation of the Communications Award for excellent coverage of agricultural events; awards for outstanding leaders and county Federations; and the Young Farmers Discussion Meet finals. Federation members will participate in an Ag Issues Briefing at 9:45 a.m., featuring members of the American Farm Bureau Federation’s public policy team.

Friday afternoon, 500 voting delegates representing members throughout the state will meet to consider policy recommendations and elect two regional vice presidents and three district representatives to the state board of directors. Delegates also will elect chairmen of the State Women’s Leadership Committee and State Young Farmers Committee.

The conference ends Friday night with a keynote address from Fox News Channel commentator John Bolton. Other meeting highlights include exhibits; special recognition of former U.S. Congressman Jo Bonner; and announcement of the Young Farmers contest winners.

Registration is required to attend the conference. The agenda is available at AlfaFarmers.org.
