CHILTON AREA PEACH PRODUCTION MEETING SET FOR JAN. 27
MONTGOMERY, Ala., Jan. 16, 2014 — Farmers interested in attending the 2014 Chilton Area Peach Production Meeting have until Jan. 23 to register for the free workshop. The meeting is set for Jan. 27 at the Alabama Power Company Building in Clanton from 4 p.m.-8:30 p.m.

Attendees will hear from industry specialists on topics related to insect pest management; consequences of the record 2013 rains; and how peach tree physiology affects nutrient utilization. Speakers include Dr. Tom Beckman and Dr. Ted Cottrell, both of USDA’s SE Fruit and Tree Nut Research Lab; and Dr. David Lockwood, professor at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville.
Other topics include CREC Fruit Research updates, peach rootstock and physiology studies, and the Alabama Fruit and Vegetable Growers Conference.
